Reality Check II

I lied in my previous post. I don’t do any of that, even if I should.

What I really do is reading the Bohemian Manifesto; a Field Guide to Living on the Edge, by Laren Stover. I am not so sure yet what I think about the text, but the water color paintings by Izak (see link) are charming.

Of course, reading it is all about self-projection. Since my two new flat mates are very professional Bohemians, I thought I should beef up my Bohemian credentials.

The book lists various bohemian types, and I have figured out that I am part Nouveau Bohemian, part Dandy Bohemian, perhaps with a dash of Beat Bohemian (this rules out the other types: Zen, and Gypsy) .
The Dandy “aspires to old money without the money”, the Nouveau “hosts parties of the most extravagant sort”, and the Beat is “pretty much up for anything”. That’s me, right?! ;-)

Reality Check

Here’s what I’m working with right now (or will be, when I have finished cleaning up the mess in my room, and stopped procrastinating):

– a picture story on school children evacuated from New Orleans, for Barn (Swedish Save the Children’s magazine)
– a column on American chefs with a college education, for Gourmet
– editing of a radio piece on the Fulton Fish Market, for Swedish Radio’s P1 Morgon
– research for my book on Harlem gentrification (no link yet, hahaha!)

…and yesterday I wrote a news article on the nomination of Harriet Miers to the US Supreme Court, for TT, the Swedish News Agency.

So, it’s quite a mix!
