Houston Back to Normal Business
Shops, cafés, restaurants, and gas stations slowly open again.
The only bad thing that happened in Houston because of the hurricane – well, as far as least I’m concerned – is that our B&B lost its Internet connection. So, I haven’t been able to update the blog very well. I didn’t write anything yesterday..! The big day after the hurricane, when people had post-hurricane parties…
But I am sending stories and e-mails and travelogues and pictures to my friends via Internet (by going to cafés and bars that have free wireless Internet connection) so please send an e-mail to gunilla@kinn.se and I’ll include you on the recipient list. For example, I made a picture story on how the Ikea store in Houston operated as a hurricane shelter.
Oh, by the way we’re just fine! THe weather is excellent and we’re hanging out. Most other Swedish journalists have already headed eastwards to gather more hurricane stories in damaged places, but I wanted to spend one more day here in Houston and talk to “New Orleans refugees”.
Right now, I’m standing in an architectural office where they have hens – my collegue gathered sound-bites for the radio of people and animals that survived the hurricane…
Tonight, we’ll go to some restaurant with a little help of the expense account of the Swedish Radio!
